Visit the GFRL to experience the full installation. This four panel amphitheatre sets a feeling of standing within a turtle’s shell, and is aplace where communities and MMIWG2S families can gather and help heal together.

  • Heather Dawson

    Heather Dawson’s stained glass art is nestled between realism and whimsy, rediscover colour and invite fun into your space. Passionate about sharing the process, Heather has worked with glass for nearly 20 years. Engaging curious souls and sparking a fire of creativity in others is a driving force in her arts practice.

  • Jan Dornian

    Jan uses welding and plasma cutting techniques to shape her designs, and patinas to distress and texture. From life-size moose to small mantle sculptures her subject matter is drawn from the landscapes of Manitoba. Whether whimsical or natural her works are inspired by her garden nestled near the Red River.

  • Patti Fernie

    Influenced by a love of texture and using unique techniques, Patti creates mixed-media paintings and whimsical canvasses in visually interesting layers. Iconic prairie, lake and nature images serve as inspiration for this former high school art teacher. Her works never fail to attract interest at art fairs and art markets.

  • Brenda Flett

    I believe my interest in quilting began when my grandmother gave me a quilt as a gift. It has become a big part of my life–It lived in our car and attended all family picnics, and it gave warmth around a campfire many times. That created my great love of fabrics, creating and quilting for myself and others from my studio at home.

  • Gary Foidart

    Gary is a self taught Metis artist who has been carving for over 35 years. His work has slowly evolved from realism to stylistic and recently he has been making small furniture as well as chainsaw carvings.

  • Greg Fritz

    Greg is an award-winning stone carver who began his craft 21 years ago. Continuing the traditional ways of stone carving, he uses only hand tools. Greg has always felt naturally connected to traditional Indigenous themes and styles. Discovering his Cree heritage late in life has helped to inspire and solidify his love of carving stone.

  • Bev Galbraith

    This award-winning local artist began drawing as a child and over the years her love of painting grew. Deeply involved in art education for youth, Bev has taught in schools, camps and workshops. Today she teaches both children and adults. Working mostly in Acrylics, her art is displayed across the nation.

  • Dot Harapiak

    Inspired by nature and painting mainly in acrylics on reclaimed wood, Dot’s works are weather protected and suitable for display in gardens or indoors. She also paints on canvas and invites commissions. Her art and accompanying poetry often represent spirit animals, reflections of dreams, and memories from her youth.

    Bev Hart grew up on the prairies and always enjoyed the creative process working with fabric and paint. Painting became her passion when she received a gift of acrylic paints. She paints daily and welcomes visitors to her home studio by appointment - a space that glows with her whimsical artistry.

  • Barb Hoffman

    Barb Hoffmann is a fine artist whose love of nature and family connection is evident in her photo-realistic graphite drawings and vibrant acrylic and watercolor paintings. Other creative endeavors include cake decorating and card making. Barb has work in private collections across Canada.

    This Matlock resident thrives on creating works from recycled materials and natural found objects such as driftwood collected on the beach. Glenda has a passion for saving items fated for the landfill. She creates mosaic art by painting on old windows and also fashions functional art pieces with reclaimed fabrics.

  • Kris Kubay

    When Kris retired, her love of colour, design and the beauty of Manitoba nature met up with some acrylic paint and a new expressive outlet was born. She finds the process of painting to be creatively organic, as the scenes begin to take on a life of their own under her brush.

  • Lizanne Laurin

    A master hair stylist and photographer for 30 years, Lizanne’s hair art has been featured in publications and television. She picked up a brush a decade ago and discovered a hidden passion. Her paintings are now featured on several regional murals and in gallery exhibitions. Lizanne also enjoys “upcycling” furniture.

  • Bernice Phillips

    Bernice paints on recycled windows and other glass pieces, reducing her carbon footprint while creating works showcasing the Boreal Forest. Fascinated by fur, feathers, and the challenge of painting realistic wildlife, she loves to work in natural light. Bernice also teaches, encouraging students to draw inspiration through smell, vision, and touch.

  • Wendy Seversen

    Wendy Seversen of Big Field Glass uses the heat of her kilns to create sculptural and functional items from window glass, and enamelled panels from sheet metal. Taking an experimental approach and a commitment to using recycled materials, her work is rooted in the nature that surrounds her rural Manitoba studio.

  • Patti Simko

    Patti Simko is an artist from Lockport, Manitoba. While Patti’s main medium is acrylic, she is also known to create watercolour paintings and mixed media pieces. Patti’s pieces are distinctive by her use of rich, deep colours. From landscapes to airplanes; florals to abstract realism - Patti is always searching for new and interesting subject matters.

  • Sandra Terin

    My name is Sandra and I love to paint. After several years working in finance and accounting I decided to do something less stressful. I enjoy acrylic paint, paint pens and some watercolour. The designs I create are always colourful and fun, as I choose to see the brighter side of things.

  • Maureen Winnicki Lyons

    Maureen Winnicki Lyons, founder of Wool Mountain, quietly subverts the whirlwind age in which we live with 20 years of experience in handmade slow-living through the arts and crafts movement in Manitoba. Through MWLminiMakers, Maureen offers skill-based workshops, and the materials to do it.

    Barbara Lange

    Barbara Lange grew up in an English railway family. Writing and trains are her passions. She and husband Larry, a Canadian National retiree, love travelling by train across Canada. The stories they heard stirred Barbara to publish Memories of the Moonlight Special and Grand Beach Train Era and Through the Window of a Train.

  • Melissa Stoddart

    A bestselling Manitoba Writer’s Guild member in 2016 and 2018, it was a personal tragedy that inspired Melissa’s first novel, Living Secrets. Writing between work and visits to the lake, a second novel, Deadly Secrets, will be released October 2022. Melissa also contributes to a monthly blog with other authors.

  • Sharlene Yarish

    Sharlene’s love of writing presented itself at a young age with poetry, later she would discover a way to merge her two passions, writing and music, where she ventured into the world of song writing. Next stop, writing children’s books where she was able to work alongside her son who illustrated Hobbledy Gobbledy.
