Experience a Gatsby-inspired party at Lower Fort Garry this June!

Celebrate Friends of Lower Fort Garry’s 40th anniversary and dress up in your favourite flapper dresses, sharp suits, pearls, and fedoras. The glitz and glamour of the 1920s is calling your name! Enjoy live jazz, swing music, cocktails, and games! Get ready for a night you won’t forget!

This Canada Day head to Lower Fort Garry National Historic Site for a fun-filled day of FREE admission and festivities for the whole family! 

The event offers family-friendly mix of pioneer-era heritage (old-fashioned lawn games like croquet and the seasonal Tripsman Relay Race) hands-on crafting workshops (candle making, bannock baking, and bracelet crafting), and interactive historical demonstrations (Costumed interpreters conduct North-West Mounted Police (NWMP) drills, treaty matching games, and black-powder weapons demonstrations).

Explore the historic site and learn about Canada’s rich heritage, and cap off the day with a special cake-cutting ceremony and a heartfelt rendition of O Canada at the Big House. This event is hosted by Parks Canada.

Tea at the Big House

Step into an afternoon of elegance and history at High Tea at the Big House, hosted by Friends of Lower Fort Garry on the beautiful grounds of Lower Fort Garry National Historic Site.

Set against the charming atmosphere of the historic Big House verandah, guests will enjoy a traditional high tea experience featuring an exclusive selection of signature Lower Fort Garry teas, savoury bites, fancy sandwiches, scones, pastries, and desserts.

The Parks Canada Knowledge Sharing Series is a recurring summer program designed to connect visitors with First Nations and Red River Métis cultural perspectives, traditions, and history. Hosted on select Saturdays throughout July and August, the event features Indigenous artists, elders, and storytellers who lead interactive storytelling and hands-on crafting sessions. Parks Canada hosts Treaty No. 1 Commemoration Day annually on August 3rd at Lower Fort Garry National Historic Site, marking the exact location where the foundational historic agreement was signed in 1871. Co-organized with the Treaty One Nation and the Treaty Relations Commission of Manitoba, the event brings together leadership, Elders, and the public to honor the treaty relationship and celebrate Indigenous culture.

The event includes an Indigenous pipe ceremony, remarks from leadership, and a community feast.
