Red River Paddle Challenge 2026

This year, Red River Paddle Challenge is celebrating a monumental milestone: the 100-year anniversary of the legendary Les Voyageurs Canoe Race!

In 1926, Winnipeg Canoe Club Commodore Fred G. Thompson started a 100 km canoe challenge from Winnipeg to Lockport via the Winnipeg Canoe Club, in honour of his brother, Lieutenant Edward “Pace” Thompson.

Red River Paddle Challenge is a 44 kilometre (~27 miles) long distance single day paddling race on the Red River beginning in Winnipeg, Manitoba and ending down river in Lockport, Manitoba.

Les Voyageurs Challenge is a 110 kilometer (~68 miles) ultra distance paddling race on the Red River beginning in Ste Agathe, Manitoba and ending down river in Lockport, Manitoba. Les Voyageurs is a two-day staged race where participants paddle from Ste Agathe to The Forks Historic Port in Winnipeg on day one and then on day two participants join in with the Red River Paddle Challenge paddlers and paddle to Lockport.

The program begins with a short presentation, followed by a guided walk through the Marsh for an opportunity to spot birds in their natural habitat.

Egg writing is a Ukrainian tradition where you use a special tool called a kistka, beeswax and dyes to design colorful shapes and lines onto an egg. It will be an instructional session. We will be using candles for part of the process to melt the wax off the eggs. Recommended for ages 12 and up. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Moonlight Snowshoe Walk

Visitors are invited on a guided snowshoe adventure under the stars! Led by an experienced guide, participants will experience the beauty of Oak Hammock Marsh followed by a cozy bonfire to warm up.

The outing includes approximately 60 minutes of snowshoeing. Families bringing young children are encouraged to consider using a sleigh for little snowshoers. Group size is limited to 12 participants. Snowshoes are provided.

Matt Fairlane Retirement Match

For the first time in nearly eight years, Canadian Wrestling Elite returns to Selkirk to celebrate hometown wrestling legend Matt Fairlane.

A pioneer of Selkirk’s wrestling scene, Fairlane helped put the city on the map nearly 30 years ago with Body Slam Wrestling and went on to compete across Canada, capturing the CWE Championship in 2012. After retiring in 2018 due to an injury, he shifted his focus to bodybuilding and running The Iron Image Barbell Club in Selkirk.

Now, Fairlane trains to step back into the ring one final time at the historic Memorial Hall, marking the venue’s first wrestling event in 15 years to celebreate his legacy and career!

Girls in Sport Fundraiser

The STACC Girls in Sport Fund is open to all and celebrates the role girls and women play in strengthening the sport community.

The event runs from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and features a silent auction throughout the day. Guests are encouraged to stay for the first-ever Olympic Watch Party at 2:00 p.m., cheering on Team Canada Women’s Hockey as they face Switzerland.

Brokenhead Ojibway Nation Ice Fishing Derby

The 4th annual Brokenhead Ojibway Nation Ice Fishing Derby returns on Sunday, March 1, 2026, welcoming anglers of all ages and skill levels for a full day of fishing and friendly competition!

Participants will have the chance to compete for a $25,000 grand prize, awarded for the longest walleye. The grand prize is paid out to the top 10 entries, with final cash amounts based on total tickets sold.

Additional prizes include five early-bird prizes valued at $300 each, five $300 door prizes, and $300 cash prizes for first fish caught, most fish caught, and smallest fish (any species). In total, more than $50,000 in prizes will be awarded.

The RM of St. Andrews and Winterpeg present a free Ski Library on Saturday, February 28, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Larters Golf Course.

Gather a team and take part in Oak Hammock Marsh Shuffleduck Tournament! This is a lighthearted winter activity that combines curling with shuffleboard, except using colourful rubber duckies!
