This month explore how birds use constellations during migration with an informative theatre presentation followed by an observation session from the rooftop of the Wetland Discovery Centre with our large telescopes, weather permitting.

Haunting on the Red Escape Room
The fire is lit, but it won’t burn forever…You have 45 minutes to escape before the fire dies and the cold begins to creep over the stone building. Solve the clues, uncover the secrets, and find your way out before time runs out. Because once the fire goes out and the temperature drops, you may be left frozen in your tracks!

Join Oak Hammock Marsh for a special event to celebrate Halloween! Learn how to design and carve your very own festive pumpkin. SAFE Halloween
Celebrate Halloween at the 11th Annual SAFE Halloween at the East Beaches Recreation Centre! This family-friendly event that offers a fun environment for trick-or-treaters of all ages, featuring a HUGE haunted house filled with Halloween treats and surprises.
Residents and local businesses are invited to take part by bringing goodies to hand out inside the haunted house. Tables will be provided.
Admission is free! The Recreation Centre is also accepting candy and cash donations. Donations can be dropped off at the Recreation Centre on Tuesdays after 3PM.

Make Halloween a little warmer and fun at the Petersfield Community Club Hall! Migratory Bird Weekend
Join Oak Hammock Marsh as they celebrate migration!
Watch bird banding demonstrations on both Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. located just south of the parking lot.

Learn why we mark birds, the methods used, and some amazing migration journeys discovered through this research.

In this one-day stained glass workshop, you’ll learn about art glass, tools, best practices, and techniques as you create your own stained-glass piece. During this workshop, you’ll make 2 stained-glass ornaments to take home.
This stained-glass class is good for beginners and intermediate crafters alike. For participants that are 12-17 years old, we require parents to be in attendance as well.

Red River Paddle Challenge 2026
This year, Red River Paddle Challenge is celebrating a monumental milestone: the 100-year anniversary of the legendary Les Voyageurs Canoe Race!
In 1926, Winnipeg Canoe Club Commodore Fred G. Thompson started a 100 km canoe challenge from Winnipeg to Lockport via the Winnipeg Canoe Club, in honour of his brother, Lieutenant Edward “Pace” Thompson.
Red River Paddle Challenge is a 44 kilometre (~27 miles) long distance single day paddling race on the Red River beginning in Winnipeg, Manitoba and ending down river in Lockport, Manitoba.
Les Voyageurs Challenge is a 110 kilometer (~68 miles) ultra distance paddling race on the Red River beginning in Ste Agathe, Manitoba and ending down river in Lockport, Manitoba. Les Voyageurs is a two-day staged race where participants paddle from Ste Agathe to The Forks Historic Port in Winnipeg on day one and then on day two participants join in with the Red River Paddle Challenge paddlers and paddle to Lockport.
